Abstract

The Chamar (Charmakar/Cobbler) community is one of the prominent Scheduled Castecommunities in India, traditionally associated with leather work, shoe making, and shoe repair.For centuries, the community faced social exclusion, economic hardship, and discrimination dueto the caste system. Limited access to education, land ownership, and employment opportunities kept many families in poverty and restricted their social mobility.
