Abstract

This proposed distribution is named as Poisson-Modified Linear-exponential distribution (PMLED) which has
only one parameter and it is a discrete compound probability distribution. The statistical characteristics required
for studying, investigating and analysing the proposed distribution are well explained, defined and derived. When
we applied the Chi-square goodness of fit test to some count secondary data related to error proneness and
biological sciences, we found that PMLED seems to be more suitable for statistical modelling than Poisson
Lindley distribution (PLD) of Shankaran (1970).
