Abstract

Incorporating artificial intelligence (AI) into the criminal justice system offers bothgroundbreaking opportunities and notable challenges. This paper examines the ethical and legalconsequences of using AI technologies in different areas of criminal justice, such as predictivepolicing, risk assessment, sentencing, and parole decisions. Ethically, the use of AI raisesconcerns about fairness, accountability, transparency, and potential biases in decision-makingprocesses. The potential for AI to perpetuate existing biases or introduce new forms ofdiscrimination is a critical issue, necessitating rigorous scrutiny and robust mechanisms toensure justice and equity.
