Abstract

An investigation is conducted on the hourly and diurnal variation in non-cyclone and cyclone days precipitation patterns in Manipur for the period from 20 to 31 May, 2024. The investigation is based on the Precipitation Estimation from Remotely Sensed Information
using Artificial Neural Networks - Dynamic Infrared Rain Rate near real-time (PDIR-Now) which is a real-time global high resolution (0.04° x 0.04° or = 4km x 4km) satellite precipitation product. The temporal resolutions of daily and hourly data provide detailed
insights into rainfall variability. Utilizing a combination of geoprocessing techniques and time-series analysis it has been demonstrated that the cyclonic event in the Bay of Bengal significantly influences the rainfall pattern in Manipur. Time series is decomposed into trend, seasonal and random components for more detailed interpretation of the daily variations in rainfall.
