Abstract

This study investigates the intersection of environmental hazards and the well-being of individuals with mental and physical disabilities (M&PD) in Cox's Bazar, a vulnerable coastal area of Bangladesh. Utilising a sample of 150 respondents, data were collected through structured questionnaires administered via face-to-face interviews. Structural equation modelling (SEM) and partial least squares structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM) techniques were employed to analyse the complex relationships between environmental factors, socio-economic variables, and disability outcomes. The qualitative data analysis shows the Insights on Disability and Climate Resilience to enhance the knowledge more elaborately. Results indicate significant correlations between environmental degradation, socio-economic marginalization, and increased vulnerability among individuals with disabilities in coastal Bangladesh. Recommendations for policy and practice are discussed based on the findings, aiming to enhance the resilience and inclusivity of coastal communities in the face of climate change impacts.
